Kia Motors Hints The Launch Of Seltos Gravity Edition

After sending an invitation for 27th April 2021, Kia Motors has now released a new teaser image on its social media platforms that showing an apple and a book along with a line – “The one who asked “why?” and the caption states, “coming soon”. This image refers to Newton's discovery of gravity, making our prediction about the launch of the new Kia Seltos Gravity Edition even stronger.

Kia Seltos Gravity Edition Coming Soon

For the people not in know, the Seltos's Special Gravity Edition was launched last year in the South Korean market. Compared to the regular variants, it comes with a unique chrome studded front grille, silver finishing on the ORVMs, distinctive 18-inch alloy wheels, and a larger rear skid plate. Besides, it also gets a grey-black interior theme along with more safety features such as a forward collision prevention assistance system and a rear passenger notification system, which notifies the driver about passengers exiting the vehicle from the back row.

New Kia Seltos

While it is not confirmed whether we will also get these safety features, but the Korean maker could offer some of these cosmetic changes to the Indian-spec Seltos. Besides, it could also debut Kia's new brand logo. Unlike the current model, the 2021 Seltos is also expected to get a panoramic sunroof instead of a regular one.

On the mechanical front, we don't expect any changes. However, it will be interesting to see what engine options this new variant will get out of the three current units: – 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol (140PS/242Nm), 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol (115PS/144Nm), and 1.5-liter diesel (115PS/250Nm). All these motors get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard along with various automatic transmission options depending on the engine – a 6-speed torque converter for diesel, a CVT for 1.5L petrol, and a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) for the turbocharged petrol unit.

Kia Seltos price

Currently, the Kia Seltos is priced from Rs 9.89 lakh to 17.65 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect this new Gravity Edition to demand a significant premium over the current trims. The brand is likely to position it as a new top-spec variant. Once launched, it will make Seltos's position more strong in the compact SUV segment that consists of contenders like the segment-leader Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Maruti S-Cross, Renault Duster, and the upcoming Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun
