Kawasaki Versys 250 Unveiled

Kawasaki has updated the entry-level offering of its adventure tourer motorcycle series, the Versys 250. The updated motorcycle has been launched in Indonesia. This is an interesting product that offers some turbulence because of its effective price segment, attractive design, and brand badge of course matters.

2020 Kawasaki Versys 250: About the motorcycle

The 250 cc variant of the very renowned adventure tourer series is a successor to the X300, which was launched earlier in India and is still listed on the website and is also waiting for a BS6 update.

Coming to the updated 250, Kawasaki has paid attention to the design factors, first of which is the new grey color that features sporty green graphics providing a fresh look to the motorcycle. Other than this, it comes installed with strong crash guards and knuckle protectors. A pair of hard case panniers also make it to the utility list but there is not much clarity on whether these components are a part of the package walking out of the showroom or available as separate accessories.

The motorcycle has steel spoke wheels for off-roading, a luggage rack at the back of the single-seat, enhancing utility, and a windscreen to shove off the wind resistance. A comfortable 180mm ground clearance adds to its all-road capabilities whereas the characteristic upright and relaxed sitting position ensures comfort on asphalt and on rough patches.

It houses the same 249cc unit as the Ninja 250R and the Z250. It is a 2-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with electronic fuel injection which produces 34PS power at 11,500rpm and churns out a peak torque of 21.7Nm at 10,000rpm. This is all paired with a 6-speed transmission. The braking duties are handled by a 290mm front disc and 220mm rear disc.

The introduction price is around Rs 3,48,000 and the top variant goes up to around Rs 3,75,000. These prices are converted from IDR.

Author's Take

The Kawasaki Versys 250 is a good package for adventure enthusiasts who wish to own an overall balanced package at this price point. However, in the context of the Indian market, we do not expect the bike to launch in our country. Besides this, Kawasaki may bring the BS6-compliant version of Versys 300 in India.
