Pre-Launch Bookings Open For Jeep Meridian; Production Begins

  • Bookings for the Jeep Meridian are now open.
  • It will feature up to 82 percent of localization.
  • Deliveries will start from June-end.
  • Powered by the 170PS 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine, with 6-speed MT / 9-speed AT.
  • Automatic transmission will get an optional AWD.

Jeep India has begun series production of the upcoming Meridian SUV at its Ranjangaon facility. With this, the pre-launch bookings for the 7-seater SUV have also been commenced officially for a token amount of Rs 50,000. Expect the brand to announce its prices by next month, while its deliveries will start from the third week of June 2022.

For those who aren’t aware, the Jeep Meridian is a three-row SUV based on the Compass’s platform and shares its design cues with its younger sibling and the Grand Cherokee. The brand claims that the Meridian has been specially designed, engineered, and tuned for Indian road conditions. It features independent front and rear suspension with frequency selective damping (FSD) that offers the best possible handling without concern for comfort.

While a front-wheel-drivetrain (FWD) will be standard, the top-spec AT trim can also be had with the all-wheel-drivetrain (AWD) option. Further aiding to its off-road attribute is the water wadding capacity of 406mm, an approach angle of 21 degrees, a departure angle of 22 degrees, a break-over angle of 20 degrees, multiple terrain modes (Sand/Mud, Snow, Auto), all-season tires, traction control, hill start/descent assist, Electronic stability control (ESC), electronic parking brake with auto-hold, etc.
