Indian Car Owners Prioritize Ventilated Seats Over Sunroofs, ADAS, and Infotainment: Survey

A recent survey by Park+ Research Labs, India’s leading digital-first survey platform, reveals a significant shift in car buyers’ preferences, with 78% of respondents ranking fully ventilated seats as their top must-have feature, surpassing sunroofs, ADAS, and larger infotainment systems.

The survey, conducted among 6,000 car owners, highlights how rising temperatures and frequent heat waves have made ventilated seats a critical requirement. Unlike semi-ventilated options, fully ventilated seats cool the entire seat surface, offering superior comfort. Automakers like Tata, Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagen, and MG have started offering these in response to growing demand.

Sunroofs Lose Shine

Once a status symbol, sunroofs were ranked as a must-have by only 11% of respondents. Concerns over leaks during monsoons and their impracticality in India’s harsh climate have diminished their appeal.

Safety Features Seen as Standard

Only 8% prioritized ADAS and advanced safety features, suggesting buyers now expect safety as a baseline requirement rather than an add-on.

Larger Infotainment Systems Fail to Impress

Despite flashy multi-screen setups, just 3% considered larger infotainment systems essential, indicating a preference for functionality over gimmicks.

The findings reflect a broader trend—Indian car buyers are now prioritizing personal comfort and practicality over vanity features, driven by climate challenges and evolving needs.

Park+ Research Labs’ data underscores how extreme weather and real-world usability are reshaping automotive preferences in India.
