India Assembled Jeep Wrangler Prices Start From Rs 53.9 Lakh

Jeep India has finally launched the locally-assembled Wrangler in the country. The off-roading SUV continues to be available in two variants – Unlimited and Rubicon that is now priced at Rs 53.90 lakh and Rs 57.90 lakh respectively. Thanks to the lower duties on the CKD units, the prices of the SUV have been dropped by upto Rs 11.04 lakh.

The locally assembled Wrangler is the second Jeep model to be built in India after the Compass. With this, Jeep has promised to keep the same quality and capability as the model built in the US. Deliveries of the first lot of India assembled Wrangler will start from today.

2021 Jeep Wrangler – Powertrain 

The new locally-assembled body-on-frame Jeep Wrangler will continue to use the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that makes out 268hp of power and 400Nm of torque. It will be paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. Being a true off-roader vehicle, the base-spec Unlimited trim gets the ‘Selec-Trac’ full-time 4WD system with a 2.72:1 low range ratio, and heavy-duty suspension, whereas the top-spec Rubicon model comes with 'Rock-Trac’ full-time 4WD system, a two-speed transfer case with a 4:1 '4LO' low-range gear ratio, full-time torque management, electronic locking differentials at the front and rear. Additionally, it also gets a lift kit that adds another 3mm of ground clearance.

2021 Jeep Wrangler – Design & Features

The assembled-in-India Wrangler retains the same design as the previous model and it continues to be offered only in the five-door avatar. However, this time it gets a 'Made in India' badging on the tailgate with an Indian flag. It also gets the ‘80th Anniversary Edition’ badging on both variants. 

In terms of features, the 2021 Wrangler SUV comes equipped with an LED automatic headlamps, LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres (17-inch Rubicon and 18-inch for Unlimited), an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with UConnect, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, 7-inch colour MID, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, ambient lighting, steering-mounted controls with voice command, keyless entry with start/stop button, removable doors and hardtop roof, tire-pressure monitoring system, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents and more.

Safety is taken care of by the front and side airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assists, hill descent control, electronic roll mitigation, and rear parking sensors with a camera. 

Colours options

Jeep has offered the Wrangler SUV in five colours – Bright White, Sting Grey, Granite Crystal, Black and Firecracker Red.

Competition

The Jeep Wrangler has no direct rival in the Indian market. But it could be considered as a more affordable option of the Land Rover Defender (Rs 73.98 lakh to Rs 1.08 crore).

In the other news, Jeep will also introduce two more locally assembled SUVs in India by the next year that includes Grand Cherokee and a new Ford Endeavour-rivalling three-row SUV.
