Hyundai Tucson Secures 5-star Safety Rating From Bharat NCAP

The Hyundai Tucson has been awarded a 5-star safety rating by Bharat NCAP in its recent rounds of crash tests. The Korean SUV has scored 30.84/32 points for adult occupant protection (AOP) and 41/49 points for child occupant protection, resulting in a full 5-star rating for both aspects. Here are more details on the crash test results: –

  • Frontal offset deformable barrier test: 14.84/16 points – In the frontal impact, protection for all body parts of the front passenger, along with the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs and tibias were rated as ‘good’, while protection to the chest and feet of the driver was rated ‘adequate’.
  • Side deformable barrier test: 16/16 points – In the side deformable barrier and side pole impact tests, the driver’s entire body showed ‘good’ protection.
  • For Child Occupant Protection (COP), Tucson received a perfect 24 out of 24 scores in the dynamic test using the child restraint systems. Both the 18-month and 3-year-old dummies received full marks, scoring 8 out of 8 for front protection and 4 out of 4 for side protection.
  • In the Vehicle Assessment, it scored 5 out of 13.

Hyundai Tucson Safety Features On Offer

The Hyundai Tucson comes loaded with safety features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat anchors, a 360-degree camera, front & rear parking sensors and Level-2 ADAS technology, comprising advanced active safety techs like adaptive cruise control, auto emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, high beam assist and much more.

Powertrain Options

Powering the Hyundai Tucson is either a 156P/192NmS 2-litre petrol or 186PS/416Nm 2-litre diesel engine, mated to an automatic transmission. While it comes with FWD as standard, the oil burner can also be had with an all-wheel-drivetrain.

Competitors

Currently, the Hyundai Tucson ranges between Rs 29.02 lakh and Rs 35.94 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it against the Jeep Compass, Volkswagen Tiguan and Citroen C5 Aircross.
