Hyundai To Launch Four EVs In Coming Years, Including Creta and Venue EV

Hyundai is gearing up to foray into the mass EV segment, with the Creta EV in January 2025. Now reports suggest that the brand also has plans to launch three more all-electric offerings, including the Venue EV.

  • Currently, Hyundai India has one EV in its portfolio, the IONIQ 5. The Creta EV will be the next model to join this lineup. It has already been spotted several times during testing and will look largely similar to its ICE counterpart. Once launched, it will take on the likes of MG ZS EV and Tata Curvv EV.
  • Next on the lineup will be the Tata Punch.ev-rivaling Hyundai Inster (internally codenamed: HE1i). Expected to be based on the born-electric E-GMP (K) platform, it could hit the markets in the second half of 2026.
  • Hyundai is also considering all-electric versions of the next-generation Venue and Grand i10 Nios.

  • The Venue EV will be a key player for Hyundai, competing directly with the Nexon EV, which has dominated the segment since its launch. It will also face competition from the Mahindra XUV400 EV.
  • The next-gen Venue will debut globally with internal combustion engines next year, with the EV version expected to follow afterwards.
  • The Grand i10 Nios-based EV will be positioned against the Tiago EV, which has been successful due to its practical design and affordable pricing. As of now, the Tiago EV will have no direct rivals in the 5-door EV hatchback category.
  • Hyundai recently vowed Rs 20,000 crore towards EV development in India over the next eight years. The company plans to establish India as one of its key manufacturing hubs for mainstream electric vehicles.
  • With a production target of over 90,000 units annually, Hyundai aims to roll out 26,000 units of the Creta EV and 65,000 units of a compact SUV based on the Inster platform. A substantial portion of this output will be designated for export markets.
