Hyundai Santro To Get New Executive CNG Variants

After introducing the Grand i10 Corporate Edition, the Hyundai Motors India is gearing up to launch the two new CNG variants of the Santro hatchback – Magna Executive and Sportz Executive. These variants will replace the outgoing Magna and Sportz CNG trims. Their prices are as follows:-

Hyundai Santro CNG Variants Price Price difference from outgoing CNG trims
Magna Executive CNG Rs 5,86,600 Rs 1,810 (Magna:- Rs 5,84,790)
Sportz Executive CNG Rs 599,900 No difference

How these new variants are different from the current CNG trims?

Unlike its name, the Magna Executive doesn't have anything executive features to offer. Compared to the outgoing Magna trim, it lacks some prominent features like a 2-DIN music system, steering mounted audio controls, speakers (2), and roof antenna. However, the Sports Executive trim gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone navigation, power-adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators, and a Day/Night IRVM.

Engine & Gearbox options

Both the trims will be powered by the BS6 1.1-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that comes with a factory-fitted CNG kit. It generates 60PS of maximum power and 85Nm of peak torque when running on CNG. On petrol fuel, the engine produces 69PS and 99Nm of output. The Santro CNG has a mileage of 30.48 km/kg.

Author's Take

The Sportz Executive trim will make more sense to buy as it offers better features over the Magna Executive CNG variant and that too at a very small premium.

The Hyundai Santro rivals the likes of the Datsun Go, Maruti Suzuki WagonR, and the Tata Tiago. Out of these three cars, only the Maruti WagonR offers the CNG powertrain option. WagonR's CNG variants are priced between Rs 5.25 lakh and Rs 5.32 lakh (ex-showroom). Therefore, the Santro seems an expensive option but has more features than the WagonR.
