In the other news, the brand is reported to launch the mid-spec Platinum (O) 7-seater variant with both petrol and diesel automatic powertrains. As of now, the standard Platinum variant comes in a 7-seater layout. If the brand launches the 7-seater Platinum (O) trim, it will be the only automatic model to get both 6-& 7-seating options. Currently, only the entry-level Prestige manual variant can be had with both seating configurations.
Hyundai offers the Alcazar with two engine choices – 2.0-liter petrol (159PS/191Nm) and 1.5-liter diesel (115PS/250Nm). Both mills can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The SUV also gets three driving (Eco, City, Sport) as well as three traction modes (Snow, Sand, Mud).
Currently, the Alcazar is commanding a waiting period from 4 weeks to 2 months across major cities of the nation. It has already received over 4,000 bookings since its launch on 18th June. Hyundai states that both the petrol & diesel variants are equally in demand, and three trims (Prestige, Platinum, and Signature) have gained a nearly equal amount of attention.
Priced from Rs 16.30 lakh to Rs 20.14 lakh (ex-showroom), the Alcazar goes up against the MG Hector Plus (Rs 13.62-19.60 lakh), Tata Safari (Rs 14.99-21.81 lakh), Mahindra XUV500 (Rs 15.52-20.03 lakh), and the upcoming Mahindra XUV700.
