Honda CB350RS Rivaling Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Spied Testing

After getting an overwhelming response for the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, the Chennai-based manufacturer is now gearing up to launch another offering of its plan to bring something new every quarter for the next four years. The brand has introduced the updated Himalayan in February 2021. And now, the next product is likely to be the Hunter 350, which has been spied once again during testing.

Going by the spy shots, the testing mule was featuring a round headlamp with a chrome bezel, fork gaiters, metal bash plate, flatter handlebar, and mid-set footpegs for a sporty riding position. It also gets a compact engine crankcase protector, which looks like the one available with the Interceptor 650. Further, one can also spot a cushioned pillion backrest, tail rack, and saddlebags, which are likely to come as an optional add-on with the bike. The instrument cluster of the motorcycle is not clearly visible, but it is expected to be a semi-digital twin-pod unit with a tipper navigation system, similar to the Meteor 350.

The spy images also reveal that the bike will get disc brakes at both ends and will ride on alloy wheels wrapped in street-focused tyres. While the bike gets scrambler-like upswept exhaust and short front & rear fenders, all the other elements give it retro roadster like aesthetics.

This upcoming Royal Enfield roadster is likely to share its powertrain and underpinnings with the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. That said, it will be based on the RE's latest J platform and will be powered by a 349cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 20.2PS of max grunt and 27Nm of peak torque. The motor will come mated to a 5-speed transmission.

Royal Enfield is expected to launch the Hunter 350 by mid-2021 at a slightly premium price point over the Meteor 350 (Rs 1.84 – 1.99 lakh). Talking about the rivals, the new Royal Enfield 350cc motorcycle will be positioned against the likes of Honda CB350RS and the Jawa Forty-Two.

Besides the upcoming Hunter 350, a Royal Enfield Himalayan can also be seen in the images, featuring a new touring-oriented ribbed seat that is expected to be more comfortable than the ongoing one. The brand is expected to offer this new seat as an optional fitment.
