For those who aren't aware, CNG vehicles need to undergo a leakage test every quarter (three months), so any possibility of a leakage accident can be addressed. However, cars with factory-fitted kits don't need such kinds of certifications, but if you've retrofitted a CNG kit in your petrol-powered vehicle, then you will need to get your vehicle tested for fuel leakage after every three months. And in the absence of a valid certificate, the vehicle owner will be penalized, and the officials may also seize the vehicle.

Also, CNG vehicle owners must understand the Gas cylinder rules, and a hydro test must require once in three years keeping in mind the certificate of the same. It is also advisable to use the vehicle occasionally on petrol mode to ensure that the petrol system remains in good working conditions.

As of now, there are as many as eleven cars available with factory-fitted CNG kits in the Indian market. Some of them are Maruti Alto, WagonR, Ecco, Celerio, S-Presso, Grand i10 Nios, Santro, etc. If you are also worried about skyrocketing prices of conventional fuels and planning to buy a CNG vehicle, here are the most fuel-efficient CNG cars available in the Indian market.
