Ford Partnered With Google, All Models Will Get Android System From 2023

Ford has announced a 6-year long strategic partnership with Google under the 'Team Upshift' banner, starting from 2023. Under this collaboration, the tech giant will develop Android-powered infotainment systems for Ford and Lincoln cars (luxury vehicle division of Ford).

Google will also provide proficiency in data utilisation, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to the American carmaker which will help to implement personalized consumer experiences, enhance its product development, and explore data-driven opportunities.

From 2023, we could see Ford cars featuring an android infotainment system. They are likely to have in-built Google apps such as Google Maps, Google Voice Assistant, Google Play along with over-the-air update support. With this, Ford is likely to replace its existing Sync infotainment system, which was developed in partnership with Microsoft. This collaboration will also help the third-party developers to build vehicle-specific apps for more personalization and enhance the ownership experience.

As of now, Ford hasn't revealed a specific timeline for the incorporation of the Android-based infotainment system for our market. But it will surely replace the existing infotainment systems once the partnership kicks off in 2023. However, Ford could continue to offer sync infotainment in China, as Google's services are banned there.
