Features Details Of Next-Gen Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Emerge

Originally launched in 2016, Maruti's high-selling subcompact SUV, the Vitara Brezza, is due to a generational update. It is expected to be launched near the festive season. Though the new Vitara Brezza is still under wraps, some details about the updated Maruti SUV have emerged online.

If reports are to be believed, the new Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will be more feature-rich than ever. For the very first time, Maruti is expected to equip the SUV with premium features like an electric sunroof, a wireless charger, connected car technology and a larger-size infotainment system. The safety quotient is also likely to be improved with the introduction of side and curtain airbags.

Another major change is expected under the hood. The 2021 Vitara Brezza will continue to use the ongoing 105PS 1.5-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine. However, it might receive a stronger 48V SHVS hybrid system. Further, it could also get a new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox instead of the existing 4-speed AT unit. A 5-speed manual gearbox will continue to be standard across the variant line-up.

The brand could also offer the next-gen Vitara Brezza with a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine, which is expected to make a debut in Maruti Suzuki Ertiga pretty soon. In its BS4 avatar, this engine used to generate 95PS and 225Nm. However, the stricter BS6 emission norms forced the Indo-Japanese carmaker to discontinue this engine. Besides this, a CNG kit may also be offered with the petrol engine.

Design-wise the Vitara Brezza will undergo subtle cosmetic changes both inside and outside. While no specific design details are available at the moment, more details are likely to be revealed in near future.

As of now, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is available in its facelift avatar which was launched last year. It is available in four variants: Lxi, Vxi, Zxi and Zxi+ which are priced between Rs 7.39 lakh and Rs 11.40 lakh (ex-showroom). In the Indian market, it fights it out with the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, Toyota Urban Cruiser, and Renault Kiger.
