Diesel Variants Of BS6 Ford EcoSport, Figo, Freestyle And Aspire Recalled Over Emission Issue

Ford has recalled select BS6 diesel variants of Figo, Aspire, Freestyle, and EcoSport over higher emission issues. As per the SIAM's website, a total of 31,818 units of these Ford models have been recalled in India, including the Ambiente diesel-manual variants of Ford EcoSport and Figo and all the diesel variants of the Aspire and Freestyle. While the individual recalled numbers are unknown at this moment, the affected models were manufactured from January 1, 2020 to June 9, 2021.

It has been reported that some of these vehicles after a certain period of in-use may emit higher emissions from the exhaust tailpipe when tested during the in-service test as per BSVI testing methods. However, assessment has concluded no safety concerns with respect to vehicle function or drivability. 

Ford India is expected to contact their customers soon, and all the inspections & repairs will be performed free of cost.

For those who aren't aware, all these Ford models come with the same 1.5-liter diesel engine that makes out 100PS of maximum power and 215Nm of peak torque. These models received their BS6 upgrades in the early months of 2020.
