Citroen C3 Aircross To Get 1L Turbo-Petrol Engine In Brazil

Citroen is gearing up to launch the C3 Aircross in Brazil soon, and the carmaker has already unveiled its engine specifications. And what makes it intriguing is that the Brazilian version will get a new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine as opposed to the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit found in its Indian-spec version.

  • This new engine is already offered in various other Stellantis Group’s cars, such as Fiats and Peugeots.
  • Compared to the Indian-specs 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine, which makes 110PS and 190Nm, the Brazilian-spec 1-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol generates 130PS and 200Nm, making it 10PS and 10Nm more potent than its Indian counterpart.
  • It is worth mentioning that the Indian-spec C3 Aircross comes only with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the Brazilian-spec variant features a 7-step CVT automatic unit. Additionally, Citroen offers a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit with its Indonesian-spec version, and it is expected to be introduced in India in the near future.

Apart from the powertrain, the Brazilian-spec Citroen C3 Aircross is more or less similar to its Indian counterpart. It will be offered in a three-row configuration with removable third-row seats.

In India, Citroen offers the C3 Aircross between Rs 9.99 lakh – 12.54 lakh (ex-showroom). It can be seen as an affordable alternative to the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Honda Elevate.
