Citroen Basalt Interior – What to Expect?

  • The teaser showcased the cabin seats and new dashboard trim, featuring a beige-coloured cabin theme.
  • A front centre armrest and adjustable headrests for both front & rear seats can also be noticed in the video.
  • The dashboard design is similar to the C3 hatchback and C3 Aircross SUV. A floating-type infotainment unit is also visible, likely the same 10.2-inch unit found in other Citroen models in India.
  • The rear seat will also feature a centre armrest, which includes cup holders and a small recess for storing knick-knacks.
  • While Citroen is yet to reveal details about its features, it is expected to be loaded with features like a 7-inch digital driver’s display, automatic AC, rear-AC vents, wireless smartphone charger, cruise control, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, six airbags, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring and rear parking sensors with camera.

Powertrain

The Basalt is expected to be powered by the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine as the C3 Aircross that makes 110PS of max power and 205Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices might include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Expected Price and Competition

Citroen is expected to price the Basalt from around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will face competition from the upcoming Tata Curvv, which is likely to hit the Indian market around the festive season. It could also be seen as a coupe alternative to other mid-size SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and Volkswagen Taigun.
