BMW R18: Design & Features

The design cues of the BMW R18 are inspired by the 1936 BMW R5. It gets a similarly styled round headlamp (LED unit) and a tear-drop-shaped fuel tank. The First Edition also gets the white stripes on the fuel tank and rear fender, 'First Edition' badging and chrome finished elements which give the bike a premium yet a retro appeal. The bike is designed in such a manner that its rear monoshock is hidden inside its frame architecture.

BMW R18 specifications

Not only the design, but the BMW R18 bike will also astound you with its advanced electronics. To give you the maximum thrill of its torque output, It offers three riding modes (Rain, Roll, and Rock), engine drag torque control (MSR), and switchable automatic stability control (ASC). Additionally, it also offers a reverse gear (electric motor driven).

The R18 also gets some other convenient features such as hill start assist (HSA), cornering headlight, and heated grips. However, these features are limited to the First Edition model only.

Engine

The massive beast is driven by a new 1,802cc, air, and oil-cooler engine that churns out 91.1PS of max power at 4,750rpm and 158Nm of peak torque at 3000rpm. A huge portion of the torque i.e. the 150Nm is generated from revs as low as 2000rpm.
