BMW G 310 RR Launched At Rs 2.85 Lakh

BMW Motorrad India has finally forayed into the small-capacity supersport bike segment with the new G 310 RR motorcycle. It is essentially a rebadged version of the TVS Apache RR 310 that is priced at Rs 2.85 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 25,000 costlier than its TVS counterpart.

Powering the BMW G 310 RR is a reverse-inclined 313cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that churns out 34PS at 9,700rpm and 27Nm at 7700rpm, making it 0.3Nm less torquey than the Apache RR 310. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission with an assist-&-slipper clutch. It also benefits from four riding modes: Rain, Urban, Sport, and Track. The initial two riding modes limit the engine output to 28.5PS & 25Nm, whereas the Sport and Track modes unleash the power restriction and allow you to enjoy the full performance of the bike.

Speaking of the design, the bike looks exactly the same as TVS Apache RR 310; however, the Bavarian bikemaker has wrapped it in a different ivory to give it a slightly distinct appearance. That said, it comes in two color options: Black Storm Metallic and BMW’s iconic Motorsport paint scheme.

Not only the paint options, but BMW also uses a different set of underpinnings when compared to the Apache. That said, the bike borrows its braking system from the BMW G 310 twins. It also runs on Michelin Pilot Street tyres instead of the Michelin Road 5 tyres seen on the Apache RR 310. Suspension duties are taken care of by a 41mm inverted front fork along with a preload adjustable rear monoshock.

The other notable features of the bike include a 5-inch TFT color rider’s display with Bluetooth connectivity, an all-LED lighting system, BMW Motorrad ABS and ride-by-wire technology.

Author’s Take

Considering the hefty price premium the BMW G 310 RR commands over its TVS counterpart, the lack of adjustability at the front is a major disappointment for us. However, the brand could offer this feature as an optional accessory at a later stage.
