Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z Hits The Market

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z has finally been launched at an introductory price of Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). At this price point, it is the most affordable sub-400cc bike with the thrilling realm of 40PS power. Its bookings are now open for Rs 5,000, while deliveries will start from the first week of June 2024.

Now, let’s quickly delve into all the necessary details of the all-new Bajaj Pulsar NS400: –

  • Powering the new Pulsar NS400Z is the same 373.3cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that also powers the Dominar 400 and KTM RC 390. It makes 40PS of max power at 8800 rpm and 35Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. It claims a top speed of 154 kmph.
  • The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. The latter ensures smoother gear shifts, prevents rear-wheel lockup, and minimises engine stalling risk.

  • Bajaj has equipped the bike with a gold-finished upside-down front fork and a mono-shock at the rear. This setup aims to improve agility and responsiveness, particularly during swift cornering and sudden shifts in direction, while also ensuring a plush and enjoyable riding experience.
  • Regarding design, the new Pulsar exudes an assertive demeanour, highlighted by its dynamic projector headlamp and integrated lightning bolt-shaped LED DRLs. Adding to its appeal are the seamlessly integrated tank extensions, split-stepped seat, underbelly exhaust muffler, and a streamlined tail section complemented by a discreet split grab rail at the rear.
  • Speaking of the features, the new bike features ride-by-wire technology for more precise control over throttle inputs, ABS-based four riding modes (Road, Rain, Sport, and Off-Road) for utmost braking performance for enhanced safety & confidence across various road conditions, switchable traction control, hazard lamps (first for any Pulsar), 5-step adjustable levers for added convenience, and a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation support, and music control, as well as, lap time tracking.
  • The bike has 320mm front and 230mm rear disc brakes for anchoring, and it comes with a dual-channel Antilock Braking System (ABS) as standard. It rides on 110/70-17 front and 140/70-17 rear section tyres.

  • Tipping the weighing scale at 174kg, the new Pulsar is 19kg lighter than the Dominar 400.
  • It has an accessible seat height of 805mm and a fuel tank of 12 litres.
  • Bajaj has offered the new Pulsar NS400 in four colour options – Glossy Racing Red, Brooklyn Black, Pewter Grey, and Pearl Metallic White.
  • In the Indian market, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z can be seen as an affordable alternative to the Triumph Speed 400, Hero Mavrick 400, KTM 390 Duke, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, and TVS Apache RTR 310.
