It has been reported that the prototype version of XUV700 is being tested on three different states of tunes for the diesel engine, including 180PS, 190PS, and 210PS. However, the production-spec XUV700 is likely to get the 190PS version, whereas the 210PS variant of this engine could debut with the upcoming Mahindra XUV Aero-based XUV900 coupe model. It is said to have a peak torque rating of 450Nm. This powerful engine option could also be introduced with the XUV700 sometime in the future.

On the other hand, XUV700's petrol engine is also expected to generate 190PS of max grunt. With this, the new XUV700 will be more powerful than its direct competitors including the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar. Mahindra will also offer an AWD system with both diesel and petrol engines, which would be a first for this segment.
