Kia Carnival Hybrid Bookings Now Open, Launch Soon

Kia India has commenced pre-launch bookings for the upcoming Carnival Hybrid. The luxury MPV will get the same strong-hybrid setup as the recently launched Sorento SUV. At present, the Carnival is available with a sole diesel powertrain.

Kia Carnival Hybrid – What To Expect?

As mentioned above, the Kia Carnival Hybrid will utilise the same powertrain as the Sorento. That said, it will come equipped with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine (180hp/25Nm), mated to an electric motor that yields an additional output of 73.4hp and 304Nm. For transmission duties, it comes paired with a traditional 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

This new hybrid powertrain will be offered alongside the MPV’s existing 193HP 2.2-litre diesel engine, paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

In terms of styling, we do not expect any major changes, save for the introduction of new colour options. That said, the MPV will continue to carry forward the same styling as the existing model, featuring a large tiger-face grille upfront, flanked by vertically stacked LED headlamps with DRLs. They also feature powered sliding doors, 18-inch alloy wheels, and connected LED tail lamps.

Regarding features, the Carnival Hybrid will receive a few new add-ons, such as a virtual engine sound system, retractable & height-adjustable seat-back tables with wireless phone chargers.

Other notable amenities will include dual 12.3-inch screens, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, tri-zone climate control, an 11-inch heads-up display (HUD), a 12-way powered driver’s seat with lumbar support, an 8-way powered co-driver seat, a powered tailgate, 360-degree camera, 8 airbags, electronic parking brakes, traction control, electronic stability control, hill assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, front, side & rear parking sensors, and a Level-2 ADAS suite.

At present, the Kia Carnival Limousine is available in a 7-seater (2+2+3) configuration in India, featuring two captain seats in the second row with ventilation and leg support. We expect the upcoming hybrid version to also feature the same seating layout.

Kia Carnival Hybrid bookings, price and launch date

Expect the Kia Carnival Hybrid to be priced in the same ballpark as the current diesel variant, which costs Rs 59.65 lakh (ex-showroom).
