Tata Tiago EV 24 kWh Real-World Range Test

The recently updated Tiago EV is Tata’s most affordable electric vehicle available in India. The upgraded hatch comes with a new exterior design, modern interior, additional features, faster charging capabilities, and a slightly improved range compared to the previous iteration. It comes with two battery pack options: 19kWh and 24kWh, carrying a certified range of 226km and 285km on a single charge. To really put this claim to the test, we decided to do some range tests with the Tiago EV 24kWh in Bengaluru’s heavy traffic and on highways.

Tata Tiago EV 24kWh Specifications and Real-World Range

Tata claims the 2026 Tiago EV 24kWh offers a range of 285km (as per MIDC Part I + Part II). However, in real-world conditions with almost 40% drive in the city and 60% on highways, the electric hatch delivered us an approximate range of 185km in our test. The car was driven in City mode, with two occupants onboard, including the driver, with a combined weight of approximately 180kg, along with 20kg of luggage. The AC temperature was set at 24 degrees, while the ambient temperature was also pleasant. Based on this, the tested range is nearly 100km lower than the claimed figure. And since the drive was conducted in city traffic, the vehicle operated in regen levels 2 & 3 for most of the time.

Speaking of the acceleration, the Tiago EV offers linear power delivery, which is adequate for its intended city usage.
