Hyundai Entered Commercial Segment With New Prime Taxi Range

Hyundai Motor India has officially entered the commercial mobility segment with the launch of its dedicated taxi offerings – Prime HB and Prime SD, with prices starting from Rs 5.99 lakh and Rs 6.89 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. While the former is a hatchback based on the Grand i10 Nios, the latter is a sub-4m sedan based on the Aura.

Interested customers can book them for a token amount of Rs 5,000 across all Hyundai dealerships.

Whats Underneath The Hood?

Powering the Prime HB and Prime SD is the brand’s tried-and-tested 1.2-litre Kappa series petrol engine, paired with a factory-fitted CNG kit, claiming class-competitive fuel efficiency of 27.32 km/kg for the Prime HB and 28.40 km/kg for the Prime SD. Both of these offerings also get a company-fitted speed limiting function capped at 80 kmph.

The company also claims a low maintenance cost of just 47 paisa/km.

To ensure a hassle-free ownership experience for fleet operators, Hyundai is providing specially designed extended warranty packages covering the 4th and 5th year or up to 1.80 lakh km warranty (whichever comes earlier).

The company is also providing flexible finance options with repayment tenures of up to 72 months to improve further accessibility for first-time and expanding fleet operators.

Author’s Take

With the launch of the Prime Taxi range, Hyundai is poised to challenge Maruti Suzuki’s well-established Tour portfolio, which has long dominated India’s commercial taxi segment, by offering a feature-rich alternative with factory-fitted CNG, enhanced safety equipment, and flexible ownership packages.
