Skoda Kushaq Facelift To Get Panoramic Sunroof; Images Leaked

Skoda is gearing up to launch the facelifted Kushaq in the coming months. The recently leaked spy images of the upcoming SUV reveal the presence of a panoramic sunroof – one of the most loved features among Indian buyers.

For those unaware, India is the fastest-growing market for panoramic sunroofs in the sub-Rs 20 lakh segment, and most of its rivals come with a panoramic sunroof. It has also been observed that sunroof variants account for over 50% of total sales, even if the same variant without a sunroof is cheaper. And therefore, Skoda is expected to capitalise on this rising trend. Currently, the Kushaq comes with a single-pane sunroof.

Sticking your head out of a sunroof is unsafe and one can be penalised under section 184 and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act

More Detailed Observed

The spy shot also confirms that the facelifted Kushaq will receive mildly reworked front & rear profiles. It is likely to get redesigned bumpers at both ends, along with a new lighting setup. It will also receive a new set of alloy wheels, featuring a blacked-out finish.

Cars with sunroofs generally have slightly higher insurance premiums due to the higher glass replacement cost.

Interior and Features

The interior of the 2025 Skoda Kushaq is yet to be seen, but it is expected to be slightly redesigned, with a refreshed cabin theme, updated upholstery and a new set of features, including a larger floating touchscreen infotainment, 360-degree camera, front & rear parking sensors and a level-2 ADAS suite.

Any Mechanical Changes?

No mechanical changes are expected underneath the hood. The Kushaq will continue to offer the existing engine options, comprising a 1-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol (115PS/178Nm) with 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic, and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol (150PS/250Nm) with 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT transmission options. The latter also benefits from the brand’s Active Cylinder Technology (ACT), which shuts off two of the four cylinders under low load conditions.

While it is not official, the 6-speed torque converter unit can be replaced with the Aisin-sourced 8-speed unit. This will help the brand to meet the upcoming CAFE III norms.

Expected Price and Rivals

The facelifted Kushaq will command a significant premium over its existing model, which currently ranges between Rs 10.61 – 18.43 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will continue to be pitted against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara/Victoris, Toyota Hyryder, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor, and the upcoming Tata Sierra.
