Citroen Aircross Excels In Safety with 5-Star Bharat NCAP Rating

The Citroen Aircross, which comes in both 5-and 7-seat configurations, has secured a full 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests, becoming the safest Citroen offering in the country. Valid only for its 5-seater version, the SUV scored 5 stars in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 4 stars in Child Occupant Protection (COP).

Currently, the Citroen Aircross is priced between Rs 8.32 – 13.55 lakh (ex-showroom).

Citroen Aircross Bharat NCAP Crash Test Result

Adult Occupant Protection (AOP)

Following the Basalt, the Aircross is the 2nd model from Citroen to undergo crash testing by Bharat NCAP (BNCAP). Interestingly, the Aircross performed better than the Basalt in crash tests, securing a full 5-star rating in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP).

It scored 11.05/16 in the frontal offset crash test and a full 16/16 in the side movable deformable barrier test.

BNCAP noted that the driver and front passenger dummies showed marginal to good protection for the crotch, legs, and chest. Additionally, the Aircross received an “OK” rating in the side pole impact test.

Child Occupant Protection (COP)

The Aircross scored 40 out of 49 points in Child Occupant Protection (COP), a difference of 4.1 points from Basalt. Following is the breakdown of the Aircross’s COP score: –

  • 24/24 in dynamic tests
  • 12/12 in Child Restraint System (CRS) installation
  • 4/13 in the vehicle assessment, where it lost the most points

Citroen Aircross Safety Features

All the variants of the Citroen Aircross get six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchors, tyre pressure monitoring system, ESC, hill hold assist, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminders, and high-speed alert system as part of the standard safety kit.
