India’s Top 10 Car Brands In April 2025: Maruti Leads Sales Chart, VW Trails

The sales report for April 2025 is out, and the Indian passenger car market has witnessed a dynamic shift in April 2025, with Maruti Suzuki retaining its crown as the market leader, despite an 8% MoM decline. In fact, eight out of the top 10 brands witnessed negative monthly sales trends last month. Only Mahindra and MG registered positive growth compared to March 2025.

Top 10 car brands in India by April 2025 sales
  • In April 2025, Maruti Suzuki continued its dominance, retaining its position as the market leader, despite a slight drop in its market share compared to March. It sold over 1.38 lakh units – a massive lead over all the other brands.
  • By clocking 52,330 units last month, Mahindra climbed to the second position from the fourth spot in March, registering a solid 8.9% MoM growth.
  • Tata Motors and Hyundai experienced sales declines when compared to March 2025. Tata reported 45,199 units, down 12.4%, and Hyundai followed closely with 44,374 units, facing a 14.4% MoM decline.

  • Toyota and Kia held 5th and 6th positions on the list, selling 24,833 and 23,623 units, witnessing a dip of up to 12.5%.
  • Among niche players, MG Motor saw a 6% MoM growth, reaching 5,829 units, while Skoda remained relatively flat with 7,302 units. Honda, however, faced a massive 53.5% drop, selling only 3,360 units — a steep fall from 7,228 units in March.
  • Volkswagen also declined 19.4%, ending the month with just 2,851 units.
