Royal Enfield Classic 650 Launched In India

Royal Enfield has launched the much-awaited Classic 650 in India, with prices starting from Rs 3.37 lakh (ex-showroom). Its bookings, test rides and sales have begun from today itself. The brand has offered it in three variants: Hotrod, Classic and Chrome, with the only difference being the colour options available for each.

Now, let’s quickly delve into all the necessary details of the all-new Royal Enfield Classic 650: –

  • At the heart of the Classic 650 is a 648cc, Inline twin-cylinder, 4-stroke, SOHC engine that makes 47PS of max power at 7250 rpm and 52.3Nm of peak torque at 5650 rpm. The same engine also powers other 650cc bikes of the Royal Enfield. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
  • Based on the steel tubular spine frame, the new Classic 650 retains the same retro design as its smaller counterpart. The only difference is its twin peashooter exhaust.
  • Regarding features, the bike comes kitted with LED headlamps and taillamps, adjustable clutch & brake levers, an analogue speedometer with a tiny digital display, a gear position indicator, a tripper navigation pod with Google maps support, and a USB Type-C charging port.
  • The Royal Enfield Classic 650 measures 2,250mm in length and has a 1,475mm wheelbase, 154mm of ground clearance, and an 800mm seat height. It weighs 243kg with 90% fuel and oil. This makes it the heaviest Royal Enfield bike to date.

  • Suspension duties are handled by a 43mm telescopic fork at the front with 120mm of wheel travel and Showa twin shock absorbers at the rear with 90mm of wheel travel.
  • For braking, it has a 320mm front and a 300mm rear disc, with a dual-channel Antilock Braking System (ABS).
  • The bike rides on 100-section front and 140-section rear MRF Nylohigh-N tires.
  • In the 650cc segment, the BSA Gold Star can be seen as its direct competitor in the Indian market. However, the BSA comes with a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine.
