Kia EV6 Recalled Again In India; Over 1300 Units Affected

Kia issued another recall for the EV6 in India due to a software issue. This recall campaign affects 1380 units of this electric crossover manufactured between March 3, 2022, and April 14, 2023. This isn’t the first recall for the EV6 as it was also recalled last year for the same issue. In the past, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 had also been affected by the same issue.

Kia EV6: Recall Reason

Kia has announced that the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) requires a software update to enhance charging efficiency and the performance of the auxiliary 12V battery, which powers low-voltage accessories like climate control and the infotainment system.

For those unaware, the ICCU is a crucial component that handles the charging process. It integrated various functions related to the charging process, like converting AC to DC power for the battery, communicating with charging stations, monitoring the battery health and enabling Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging.

Kia will soon start contacting the owners of affected models to schedule an appointment for a quick software update. Meanwhile, owners can also book an appointment with Kia service centres or contact the call centre at 1800-108-5005.
