Volkswagen India Recalls Taigun and Virtus Over Potential Production Defect

Volkswagen India has announced a recall for 38 units of the Taigun and Virtus, manufactured between November 29, 2023 and January 20, 2024. The issue stems from a potential production defect in the “track control arm” caused by a missed weld seam during manufacturing at the supplier’s end. This defect could lead to a sudden loss of stability and control during critical driving situations, potentially resulting in accidents and injuries.

What Is Track Control Arm?

The track control arm is a crucial part of a vehicle’s suspension system that connects the car’s chassis to the wheel hub/steering knuckle, allowing the wheels to move up and down while maintaining proper alignment with the chassis. It is usually made of metal and consists of bushings and ball joints to allow movement while reducing friction and wear. It plays a key role in ensuring stability, handling and comfort during driving.
