Tata Altroz Racer Launched At Rs 9.49 Lakh – i20 N Line Rival

The much-anticipated Tata Altroz Racer has finally been launched, with prices starting from Rs 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It is essentially the sportier iteration of the standard Altroz that will go head-to-head against the Hyundai i20 N-Line in the Indian market.

Tata offers the Altroz Racer in three variants – R1, R2 and R3.

More Powerful Than Altroz iTurbo

Powering the Tata Altroz Racer is the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine as the Altroz iTurbo, albeit in a higher state of tune. Having said that, it makes 120PS and 170Nm, which is 10PS/30Nm up from the Altroz iTurbo.

Transmission duties are taken care of by a 6-speed manual gearbox, instead of the 5-speed unit in Altroz iTurbo. What’s more interesting is that it features a sportier exhaust sound. However, the carmaker hasn’t altered the suspension tuning and steering feedback.

Sporty Exterior, Interior

Design-wise, the Altroz Racer is identical to that of the standard Altroz; however, it comes finished in three dual-tone shades – Atomic Orange (NEW), Pure Grey and Avenue White, all feature a blacked-out hood, side mirrors and roof, with white-coloured racing strips running from the hood to the roof. It also gets “RACER” badging on the front fender and a slightly revised grille.

Inside, the sportier Altroz boasts an all-black dashboard accented with vibrant orange highlights and ambient lighting, creating an engaging atmosphere. The seats feature a black finish with striking white and orange stripes. It also borrows a new gear knob from the Tata Nexon.

Regarding features, it comes equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a Harman Kardon sound system, a digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, a voice-assisted electric sunroof, wireless smartphone charger, a 360-degree camera, six airbags and electronic stability control.
