The long-awaited new-gen Maruti Swift has finally made its entry into the Indian market. With prices starting from Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the fourth-gen iteration of the Swift offers customers a blend of style, performance and innovation like before.
Bookings for this upgrade hatchback are already underway, while deliveries are likely to be commended in the coming weeks.

2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift – What’s New?
Design and Dimensions
The design of the new Swift is actually an evolution from its predecessor. It boasts an oval-ish mesh pattern grille, accentuated by sharper smoky LED headlights with boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. Notable additions include new design for alloy wheels, conventional rear door handles (replacing the C-pillar mounted units), and wraparound LED tail lights. Maruti has also lowered the luggage tip for effortless luggage loading.
Maruti has also introduced two new colour options for the new Swift – Luster Blue and Novel Orange, along with two new accessory packages. The upgraded hatch can now also be have in dual-tone paint scheme for added appeal.

Interior and Features
Changes inside the cabin are more noticeable compared to the exterior. To start with, the interior of the Swift undergoes a complete overhaul, drawing inspiration from the Baleno. However, certain dashboard panels have been tweaked compared to its sibling.
In terms of features, the new Swift is equipped with a variety of new comfort, safety, and convenience features aimed at enhancing overall practicality and safety, making it a more desirable product for its target demographic.

Enhanced Safety and Driving Dynamics
In addition to the standard safety features mentioned above, Maruti has strengthened safety measures by upgrading its chassis. It now includes 45% high-strength steel and 20% ultra-high tensile steel. Furthermore, the new hatch also features a new suspension system that claims enhanced fun-to-drive quotient. Additionally, it gets a new hydraulic clutch system for smooth engagement and disengagement.

Powertrain
The 2024 Swift gets a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine, replacing the outgoing 1.2-litre 4-cylinder K-series petrol unit. Maruti offers it with the same 5-speed MT and AMT options.
The latest engine iteration claims enhanced driveability and 10% higher mileage in MT, 14% higher in AMT, and up to 12% lower CO2 emissions compared to its predecessor. Here’s a look at its specifications: –

While presently unavailable with a CNG powertrain, we believe plans are underway to introduce it in the near future. Maruti also offers this engine globally with a strong-hybrid system, yet its availability in India remains pending.
