The eagerly awaited new-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift is set to hit the roads soon. The Japanese carmaker is expected to launch it in the first half of May 2024. The launch of the Swift-based Maruti Dzire compact sedan will closely follow it.
The new Swift made its global debut at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show and is currently on sale in Europe and Japan. Its Indian version is expected to be the same as its global counterparts, except for a few styling tweaks.
Starting with the exterior, the new Indian-spec Swift will feature a flatter nose with a new gloss-black rounded grille, sharper LED headlamps, conventional rear door handles, newly designed front and rear bumpers, and blacked-out C-pillars.

Inside, the new Swift will feature a completely revamped dual-tone dashboard, with a Baleno-like floating touchscreen infotainment system taking centre stage. Its global-spec version also features an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and even some ADAS features. However, the India-spec model is unlikely to get ADAS tech.
Even the powertrain will be new, as the new-gen Swift now gets a new Z-Series 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine with a 12V mild-hybrid system that makes 82PS/112Nm and comes paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. However, the hybrid system is unlikely to make its way to the Indian market.

Considering all the changes, the 2024 Swift will command a significant price premium over its current model, which retails between Rs 5.99 – 9.03 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will continue to take on the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago.
