Kia Sonet Likely To Get New Entry-Level Variants With Sunroof

Kia India is reported to introduce two new entry-level variants of the Sonet subcompact SUV, both likely to be equipped with a single-pane electric sunroof. Currently, Kia offers the Sonet in seven variants: HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, GTX+, and X-Line.

  • According to reports, the upcoming entry-level variants for the Kia Sonet will be named HTE (O) and HTK (O). While both trims will feature an electric sunroof, the HTK (O) trim will also get LED-connected taillamps, automatic AC, and a rear defogger over the regular HTK trim.
  • They will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options.

For those who aren’t aware, the Sonet is available with two petrol and one diesel engine options. These include the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. Transmission options vary depending on the engine, ranging from a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic, a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT).

In the sub-4m SUV segment, the Kia Sonet faces competition from the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger. In other news, Kia Motors is gearing up to increase the prices for its mass-market models by up to 3 per cent, effective from April 2024. Having said that, the Kia Sonet, Carens and Seltos will be affected by the price hike. Prices for the Kia EV6 crossover will remain unchanged.
