Tata Altroz Racer Set To Hit Streets

Tata Motors showcased the Altroz Racer for the first time at the 2023 Auto Expo, followed by the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in 2024. Now, reports suggest that it could hit the market in the coming weeks.

What’s Special About Tata Altroz Racer?

The Tata Altroz Racer is essentially the performance-oriented version of the standard Altroz that features a more powerful turbocharged petrol engine and several styling updates.

Tata Altroz Racer launch date
  • The Altroz Racer boasts the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine as the Altroz iTurbo but in a higher state of tune. It makes 120PS of max power and 170Nm of peak torque, which is 10PS/30Nm more than the regular Altroz iTurbo.
  • It is expected to be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox instead of the regular model’s 5-speed unit.
  • Speaking of the styling updates, the hot hatch features a sportier dual-tone paint scheme and twin racing strips on the bonnet and roof, giving it the feel of a racing car. Furthermore, it also boasts a “Racer” badging on the front fender, a slightly revised grille and newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels.

  • Inside, it is expected to feature an all-black theme with coloured accents and contrast stitchings on the dashboard, door trims and new leather upholstery.
  • The Altroz Racer is expected to be equipped with more features than its standard counterpart. These could include a larger touchscreen infotainment system, the segment’s first ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, a heads-up display, a voice-assisted sunroof, and six airbags.

Pricing and Rivals

Expect the Altroz Racer to command a significant price premium over its regular iTurbo version, which currently ranges between Rs 9.20 lakh and Rs 9.70 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will pose a threat to the Hyundai i20 N Line.
