Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus Gets New GT Line Variants With 1-litre TSI Engine

At its yearly press conference, Volkswagen introduced new GT Line variants for the Virtus and Taigun. These new variants are additions to the existing GT Line lineup, which are now named Chrome, Sport, and Edge. Each comes with its own unique characteristics, like blacked-out inserts for the Sport, chrome inserts for the Chrome and exclusive colour options for the Edge trim.

Here are more details: –

Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus GT Plus Chrome

  • It is the same variant we are used to to seeing on our roads, featuring plenty of shiny chrome elements on the grille, bumper, roofrails and even the alloy wheels.
  • It continues to be restricted to the 1.5-litre TSI engine only.

Taigun GT Line, GT Plus Sport

  • In order to appeal to a wider section of customers, Volkswagen has broadened the appeal of the Taigun GT variants by offering the 1-litre TSI engine with the newly introduced GT Line trim, which features plenty of cosmetic enhancements.
  • The exterior of the new Taigun GT Plus Sport variants features smoked LED headlamps, a Carbon Steel Grey roof, and a glossy blacked-out treatment to the grille, front diffuser, side mirrors, door handles and fender badges. The Virtus GT also features red brake callipers and red GT branding on the grille and rear profile.
  • Inside, the Sport variant flaunts an all-black theme, complemented by contrast red stitchings for added appeal.

Volkswagen Taigun GT Line
  • The Taigun GT Line lacks the red brake callipers and red GT badge on the grille, but it does feature a GT Line badge on the doors instead.
  • The Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus Sport comes equipped with a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol TSI engine, delivering 150PS and 250Nm of torque, whereas the Taigun GT Line features a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol TSI engine generating 115hPS and 178Nm of torque.
  • The GT Plus Sport trim offers transmission options of a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, while the GT Line trim is available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Virtus GT Plus Sport

The Virtus GT Plus Sport undergoes a similar transformation as the Taigun, replacing chrome inserts with black elements. However, it’s important to note that the Virtus GT Plus Sport is currently a concept, and the launch of its production version is anticipated in the second half of 2024.
