BYD Seal Specifications Disclosed; India Launch On March 5

China’s renowned EV manufacturer BYD is all set to launch the Seal electric sedan on March 5, 2024. But ahead of its launch, the carmaker has disclosed the specifications of its India-bound model.

BYD Seal Specifications

In India, BYD will offer the Seal EV with an 82.5kWh battery pack that returns around 570 kilometres range on a single charge. It will be paired with a rear-axle mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 230PS and 360Nm of torque, enabling it to make the century sprint in just 5.9 seconds.

Equipped with BYD’s Blade Battery technology, renowned for its high energy density, advanced safety features, and long lifespan, this model is capable of charging at speeds of up to 150kW, achieving a 10-80 percent charge in just 37 minutes. However, a regular 11kW AC charger takes around 8.6 hours to juice up the battery pack from 0 to 100 percent.

8-In-1 Platform

Built on the e-platform 3.0, the Seal stands out as the lone BYD model incorporating Cell-To-Body (CTB) technology, seamlessly integrating the battery pack into the car’s structural framework. This innovative approach reduces the vehicle’s overall weight significantly.

The platform is a comprehensive assembly comprising 8 essential components – motor, motor controller, reducer, onboard charger, DC converter, high-voltage distribution box, vehicle controller, and BMS – all consolidated into one unit.

Moreover, the e-platform contributes to a shorter overhang and an elongated wheelbase, amplifying cabin space and refining the vehicle’s aerodynamic profile for enhanced efficiency and performance.
