Tata Nexon Crash Tested Again By Global NCAP; Scores 5 Star Rating

The Tata Nexon SUV has undergone a voluntary crash test once again, receiving a full 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP. This marks the third time that the Nexon has been subjected to a crash test; however, it’s the first time since undergoing a facelift in September last year.

Tata does it again: Five stars for the new Nexon

The Tata Nexon scored 32.22 points out of 34 for Adult Occupants Protection (AOP) and 44.52 out of 49 for Child Occupants Protection (COP), the second-highest Global NCAP score after the Harrier/Safari for adult and child occupant safety in #SaferCarsForIndia testing.

Now, let’s delve into the complete crash test reports: –

Adult Occupants Protection (AOP)

  • Frontal impact: The protection offered to the head, neck and knees was good for both the driver and the front passenger. However, their chests showed adequate protection. Driver’s tibias indicated adequate protection, and passenger’s tibias showed good protection. The footwell area and bodyshell were rated as sturdy and were capable of withstanding further impacts.
  • Side impact: The head, abdomen and pelvis showed good protection, and the chest showed adequate protection.
  • Side pole impact: The curtain airbags are standard and meet the fitment requirements, offering good protection to the head and pelvis, marginal protection to the chest and adequate protection to the abdomen.
  • The SUV gets electronic stability control and seatbelt reminders in all seating positions as standard fitment, and the performance shown in the test was acceptable according to Global NCAP’s latest requirements.
