Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Most Value For Money Variant

Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the Grand Vitara flagship SUV, replacing the S-Cross from its India lineup. Available in two powertrain options including the self-charging strong-hybrid unit, the Grand Vitara comes loaded with a plethora of premium features. It also gets the option of the segment’s first All-Wheel-Drivetrain (AWD) with the mild-hybrid unit. Following is an analysis of all variants of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara to find which of its variant offers the most value for money. But first, have a look at its specifications: –

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Specs and Mileage

As mentioned above, the Grand Vitara can be had with either 1.5-litre K-series mild-hybrid petrol or a Toyota-sourced 1.5-litre strong-hybrid engine that also gets three driving modes: petrol, hybrid and pure EV. The strong-hybrid unit starts the SUV in electric mode only, thus providing instant acceleration. It feels very quiet at low speeds and completes most of the city run in electric mode only, given it has enough charge. And so, it offers exceptional fuel efficiency of roughly 26kmpl in real-world conditions if you are gentle on the throttle. It cruises well on highways too, but lacks that outright punch that you get in the turbocharged iteration of its rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.

Speaking of the mild-hybrid powertrain, it is super refined and delivers linear power through the range. It can cruise effortlessly on the highways but feels stressed while quick acceleration. All-in-all, it is best suited for laid-back motorists. However, offering its manual version with Suzuki’s All-Grip Select All-Wheel-Drivetrain (AWD) gives it an edge over other cars in the segment. Though it lacks low-end torque, it can dive on uneven terrains with ease and with the means of electronics, it offers good traction on slippery surfaces.
