New-Gen Mahindra Scorpio Teased Again; Partially Reveals Exterior Design

Until now, pictures of the new-generation Mahindra Scorpio were only seen in fatty camouflage, but Mahindra has now partially revealed its exterior, through yet another official teaser.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio โ€“ What does the teaser video reveal?

Compared to the current-gen Mahindra Scorpio, the upgraded model has received more contemporary styling elements such as an XUV700-like vertical chrome slat grille, flanked by dual-barrel LED projector headlamps. We can also see the honeycomb pattern for the air dam, a faux aluminum skid plate, and LED fog lamps with C-shaped LED daytime running lamps (DRLs).

On the side, the dual-tone alloy wheels of the new Scorpio shout style under the nearly circular wheel arches, encased in rugged body cladding. Thereโ€™s also an apparent kink on the rear door, which is a signature design element that can also be seen on various other Mahindra cars such as XUV300, now-discontinued XUV500, and XUV700. Besides, an adequate amount of chrome has been used in the exterior of the new Scorpio, giving it a premium touch.

While the teaser doesnโ€™t reveal much of the rear design, we can see that its rear bumper with flat chrome lining, a rear fog light with a reverse lamp, and a faux aluminum skid plate.

Interior and Features

new Mahindra Scorpio interior

Speaking of the interior, it has already been revealed through various leaked images. It is likely to get a dual-tone black-&-brown interior, with notable features such as a large dashboard integrated touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, single-pane electric sunroof, wireless smartphone charger, roof-mounted speakers, dual-zone climate control, 360-degree camera and much more.

Mahindra is expected to offer the new Scorpio in both 6-& 7-seat configurations.

Powertrain

Under the hood, the 2022 Scorpio will be provided with both 2.0-liter petrol and 2.2-liter diesel engine options, borrowed from Mahindra Thar, albeit in a different state of tune. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic, linked to a rear-wheel-drivetrain (RWD) as standard, and an optional 4WD setup for select variants.

As suggested by a recently spied test mule, the diesel version of the new Scorpio will be available in two powering tunings, including a 130PS version for the base-spec trims.

Expected Market Debut

Expect Mahindra to unveil the new Scorpio in June 2022 during its 20th-anniversary celebration. It is expected to be sold alongside the ongoing Scorpio.
