Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan Edition Launched In India

  • Now the top offering in the Land Rover Discovery line-up.
  • Based on the R-Dynamic HSE variant.
  • Gets an all-wheel drivetrain as standard.
  • Priced at Rs 1.26 crore (ex-showroom).

Land Rover has launched the Metropolitan Edition of the Discovery three-row SUV in India at Rs 1.26 crore (ex-showroom), making it around Rs 10 lakh more expensive than the R-Dynamic HSE trim.

Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan Edition: What’s new?

Visually, the Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan Edition gets a slew of changes to set it apart from the standard model such as Atlas black finished front grille and Discovery logo, Hakuba Silver inserts in the lower part of the front bumper, 20-inch alloy wheels in Dark Satin Grey and all-black brake calipers.

Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan Edition interior and features

On the inside, the story is pretty much at par with the rest of the lineup. It gets a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, an 11.4-inch touchscreen Pivi Pro infotainment system, 4-zone climate control, wireless charging, heated steering wheel, and ventilated rear seats with electric fold capability. In addition, the Metropolitan Edition also gets a panoramic sunroof with a sliding front portion and a fixed rear roof glass, Land Rover’s air purification system with a PM 2.5 air filter, and a unique titanium mesh trim detailing all around the interior.

Engine Options

The new Discovery Metropolitan gets the option of both the petrol and diesel engine options. With the petrol being a 3.0-litre straight-six turbo unit equipped with mild-hybrid technology, dishing out 360PS of power and 500Nm of torque, the diesel being a 3.0-litre straight-six unit outputting 300PS and 650Nm. Both the mills come mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission with an all-wheel-drive system and Terrain Response system.

In the Indian market, the Land Rover Discovery locks horns with the Mercedes-Benz GLE, Audi Q7, BMW X5, and Volvo XC90.
