Triumph Rocket 3 '221 Edition' – What's Special?

Both the variants of Triumph Rocket 3 221 Special Edition get a special color scheme with unique graphics that enhances the aggressive and imposing appearance of the motorcycle. It covers the fuel tank and front mudguard in vibrant red colour, while the other body parts come wrapped in Sapphire Black. They also feature 221 knee pad graphics as well as graceful tank-top graphics that features Rocket's incredible performance numbers like torque, power, engine size, bore, stroke, and more. This new colour scheme will be available for one year only.

At the heart, the bikemaker hasn't made any changes. Both the variants of the limited edition are powered by the same 2,458-cc, three-cylinder DOHC unit (largest production motorcycle engine in the world) delivering a maximum power output of 167PS at 6000rpm and a peak torque of 221Nm at 4000rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a torque-assist hydraulic clutch. The bikes can complete the century sprint in just 2.73 seconds.

Talking about the features, they remain identical to the standard model that majorly includes LED lighting, cast alloy wheels, TFT instrument cluster, Connectivity System (accessory), illuminated switch gears, four riding modes (Rain/Road/Sport/Rider-configurable), optimised Cornering ABS, cruise control, traction control, and much more. The suspension bits include Showa 47mm upside-down front fork and a monoshock with a remote hydraulic preload adjuster. Braking duties are done via dual 320mm discs with Brembo Stylema calipers and a single 300mm disc at the rear.

Considering that these are just cosmetic versions of the standard Rocket 3, the price premium of Rs 90,000 is quite hefty over their regular counterparts. It would have been better if the premium was around Rs 25,000-30,000.
