2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Bookings Open At Dealership Level

Select Volkswagen dealerships across the country have started accepting unofficial bookings for the upcoming facelifted Tiguan, which will be launched on 7th December 2021. Series production of the SUV has already underway at its plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

The Tiguan is based on VW’s global MQB platform. Similar to its three-row version, the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, its 5-seater counterpart also receives a few cosmetic updates, including a new front fascia with updated bumper and refreshed LED dual-barrel LED matrix IQ headlamps, refreshed 18-inch alloy wheels, reworked L-shaped tail lights with the Tiguan lettering in the centre.

On the inside, the 2021 Tiguan gets a new fully digital driver’s display, a redesigned two-spoke steering wheel, a touchscreen interface for the tri-zone climate control, a 30-colour ambient lighting system, 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a panoramic sunroof, connected car technology, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, rear AC vents, slidable rear bench, cruise control, powered tailgate, etc. Expected safety features include six airbags, electronic stability control, and hill start & decent assist, and much more.

Volkswagen will equip the facelifted Tiguan with a new 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine (190PS/320Nm), mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) and an all-wheel-drive system.

The Tiguan is expected to command a notable premium over its pre-facelifted model, which was discontinued last year during the BS6 transition period. For reference, it was priced from Rs 28.07 lakh to Rs 31.46 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom Delhi) before getting axed. When launched, it will take on the Jeep Compass and Citroen C5 Aircross.
