Honda Cars India has launched the facelifted Amaze in August 2021, featuring subtle cosmetical changes as well as some new features. However, things remained unchanged on the mechanical front. But recently a test mule of 2021 Honda Amaze has been spied testing with an emission testing apparatus, suggesting that it could be a CNG variant of the sub-4m sedan.

As of now, the Amaze is available with two engine options – 1.2-litre petrol (90PS/110Nm) and 1.5-litre diesel (up to 100PS/200Nm). Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic for both engines. The factory-fitted CNG kit will come with the 1.2-litre petrol engine and will undoubtedly affect its power figures by a significant margin.
Expect Honda to offer the Amaze CNG only with a 5-speed manual gearbox to keep prices in check.
Besides Honda, a few other manufacturers will also join the CNG bandwagon soon. While Amaze's core rival Hyundai Aura is already being offered with a CNG powertrain, Maruti Suzuki and Tata are also gearing up to launch the CNG variants of Dzire and Tigor respectively.
We reckon Honda to offer the factory-fitted CNG kit with the base or mid-spec variants of the Amaze with a premium of around Rs 50,000 over their corresponding petrol-manual trims.
