Bharat Petroleum To Setup EV Charging Stations At 7,000 Petrol Pumps

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is preparing to give a solid push to boost the EV compatible infrastructure in the country. The OMC has a plan to set up charging stations for electric vehicles at its 7,000 existing petrol pumps over the next few years.

BPCL charging stations

Currently, the BPCL has a retail network of over 19,000 outlets across India. So, entering into the EV charging business will not only provide the company with a new opportunity in the market but will also protect the brand against the uncertainty of deracination of conventional fuels.

Commenting on the occasion, Arun Kumar Singh, the Chairman of BPCL said: – “Over the next few years, we are aiming at reaching the count of 7,000 stations to support the growing EV industry and these stations would be known as ‘Energy Stations’. He further stated that – “EV charging infrastructure is one of the five focused segments that BPCL is working on along with Petchem, Gas, Consumer Retailing, Renewables, and Biofuels that will serve the energy needs of the nation."

In the other news, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is also planning to setup 5,000 new EV charging stations over the next 3 years. It currently has 84 charging points. On the other hand, Indian Oil has 448 EV Charging Stations and 30 Battery Swapping Stations across the nation.
