Hyundai i20 N Live Vs Regular Model – Key Differences

Hyundai Motors has finally unveiled its first N Line product in India in the form of the i20 N Line hot hatch that comes with plenty of cosmetical additions and features over the regular model in an attempt to cater to enthusiasts’ buyers, making their ownership experience even more enjoyable. However, it doesn't get any major difference under the hood. And that's why we have put it side by side in a comparison with the regular turbocharged variant of the i20 hatchback. So here are five things that make Hyundai i20 N Line distinct from its regular turbo variant.

1. Sporty Exterior

  • The Hyundai i20 N Line comes with a slew of sportier elements that makes it look different from the i20 Turbo. For beginners, the front grille of the i20 N-Line features a funky mesh design that caricatures a chequered flag, while the regular i20 models get a honeycomb pattern. It also gets a discrete "N Line" badging on the grille.

  • The front bumper of the i20 N Line looks more dynamic than the regular model thanks to intricately designed housing for the projector fog lamps that splendidly blend with a blacked-out lip spoiler that further highlights contrasting red accents for added sportiness.

  • The i20 N Line also gets 16-inch wheels sporting a unique dual-tone design with the 'N' logo at the center. However, at 195/55 R16, the tire profile remains unchanged.
  • There is also an N-Line badging on the fenders, front disc brakes with the red caliper, and side skirts that add a gentle touch of distinction.

  • Comparing the rears of both is somewhat similar to comparing their fronts. It features a beefed-up bumper that features a faux diffuser, two horizontal reflecting stirps, along with a chrome twin-exhaust muffler setup, and black trim on the lower portion.

  • Besides, it also gets a discrete tailgate spoiler with side wings.
  • The rest of the design and styling bits on the Hyundai i20 N Line is similar to that of the standard model.

2. Colors

Hyundai has offered the i20 N Line in 4 single-tone body shades – Thunder Blue, Fiery Red, Titan Grey, and Polar White. The first two ivories are also available with a blacked-out roof. On the other hand, the regular Hyundai i20 is available in 8 color choices: Typhoon Silver, Titan Grey, Metallic Copper, Starry Night, Polar White, and Fiery Red, with the latter being offered with a contrast black roof option.

3. N Specific Cabin Tweaks & Features

  • Compared to the exterior, the changes inside the cabin are minimal. It continues to get the identical cabin layout with an all-black theme along with contrasting red accents and metal pedals as the i20 turbo. However, it gets a new N branded 3-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters (DCT only), leather gear knob, chequered flag-themed leatherette seats, and red ambient lighting instead of blue against the regular turbo variant.
  • In terms of features, the i20 N-Line gets electrochromic IRVM and rear disc brakes over the standard model. Hyundai is also offering up to 31 accessories for the sporty hatchback.

4. Performance

The Hyundai i20 N Line retains the same 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine (120PS/172Nm) from the turbo i20, paired with either a 7-speed DCT or a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual). However, Hyundai has given the i20 N Line a stiffer suspension setup for better stability. Its exhaust note has also been retuned.

5. Variants and Retail

While the regular i20 Turbo is available in three variants: Sportz, Asta, and Asta (O), the i20 N Line will be offered in two variants, namely N6 and N8. Similar to the i20 Sportz Turbo, the i20 N-Line N6 trim is limited to the intelligent manual transmission (iMT), while the N8 being available for both transmission options.

Unlike the regular i20, its sportier N-Line version will only be sold via Hyundai’s Signature dealerships.
