After much teasing and speculation, Mahindra has finally pulled the wraps off the all-new XUV700. The premium mid-sized SUV is a successor model of the XUV500 that is expected to be launched in October 2021.

2021 Mahindra XUV700 – Design & Key Features

The Mahindra XUV700 looks modern and flaunts a more sophisticated design philosophy. It looks bigger and more premium than the XUV500. Also, it will be the first Mahindra model to feature the brand's new 'Twin Peaks’ logo.

Offered in both 5-and 7-seater configurations, the SUV features a chrome-plated front grille, LED headlights with C-shaped LED daytime running lamps, silver skid plate at both bumpers, multi-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, and a large angular rear end with arrowhead LED tail lamps and dual exhaust muffler.

Inside, the XUV700 boasts a dual-tone black-&-cream theme with the dashboard dominated by a twin-screen setup, comprising a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument panel. These are powered by Mahindra's new UI system called ''Adernox''.

Mahindra has left no stone unturned when it comes to loading the XUV700 with premiums. It gets a 60+ connected car technology, Alexa voice assistant support, 6-ways powered seats with memory function, smart air filter, leatherette seats, dual-zone climate control, segment's largest panoramic sunroof, keyless entry with engine start-stop button, cruise control, 6-speakers with sound staging, flush-fitting door handles, etc. However, it misses out on the ventilation function for the front seats.

Its safety list includes 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, dynamic stability control, driver drowsiness detection system, parking sensors, and a host of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that includes autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), smart pilot assist, auto booster headlamps (high beam assist) and traffic sign recognition.

Mahindra will also announce an optional pack at a later stage and that will include notable features like electrically deployed smart door handles, 360-degree camera, blind-view monitoring, electronic parking brakes, wireless charging, and 445W 13-channel DSP 12 custom-designed speakers with multiple and audio modes like Immersive 3D, Stage, Party, and Breezy.

Variants

The XUV700 will be available in two series – MX and AdrenoX. The latter is further divided into three sub-variants: – AX3, AX5, and AX7. The variant-wise key features are as follows: –

Mahindra XUV700 MX Series: –

Mahindra XUV700 AX Series: –

Powertrain

Under the bonnet, the XUV700 will be fitted with segment's most powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged mStallion petrol and 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engines, generating a maximum power output of 200PS/380Nm and 185PS/up to 450Nm (420Nm with MT), respectively. With this, the new XUV700 can go from zero to 60 kmph in under 5 seconds. Its top-speed and tested mileage figures are yet to be revealed.

As for the transmission, there are two options to choose from, the first is a six-speed manual and the other is a six-speed torque converter automatic unit, both driving the front wheels. However, several variants will also get a segment's first all-wheel drivetrain system. Interestingly, the diesel engine will also have four drive modes, namely: Zip, Zap, Zoom, and Custom (Individual).

Expected Pricing & Rivals

The all-new Mahindra XUV700 is likely to be priced from Rs 15.5 lakh to Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom) and compete against the likes of the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and Hyundai Alcazar.
