Most of the variants of Renault Kiger have become dearer by Rs 13,000, except for the RXT CVT and RXZ CVT. Also, the price of the base-spec RXE variant has remained unchanged. With this, the Renault Kiger now costs from Rs 5.64 lakh to Rs 10.09 lakh (ex-showroom), undercutting most of its rivals except for the Nissan Magnite, which currently ranges between Rs 5.59 lakh to Rs 10.00 lakh (ex-showroom).
Renault hasn't made any changes to justify the price hike. It will continue to be available with premium features like LED headlamps, alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-speaker sound system, wireless charging, a 7-inch display in the instrument cluster, a PM2.5 air filter, auto climate control, rear AC vents, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, multiple driving modes, and more. On the other hand, the safety kit includes up to four airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera, etc.
Powering the Kiger sub-compact SUV is the choice of two petrol engines: 1.0-litre naturally aspirated (72PS/96Nm) and 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol unit (100PS/160Nm). While the former engine comes with either a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT, the turbocharged unit gets a 5-speed manual and an optional CVT automatic gearbox.
In the other news, Renault has recently started exporting the Made-In-India Kiger to South Africa. The brand will also commence its shipping to Indonesia and other parts of Africa and the SAARC region soon.
