MG Motor Ties Up With Jio For Connected Car Technology In Creta-Rivaling SUV

MG Motor India has tied up with Reliance Jio for its connected car technology, and its upcoming Creta-rivaling SUV (to be called the Astor) will be the first model to benefit from this new collaboration. MG claims that Jio’s widespread 4G internet outreach along with the highest quality connectivity will help the brand in providing high-speed in-car connectivity across all regions of the country.

Talking about the partnership, Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India, said-

Technology and innovation are leading the connected car space in the automobile industry. The current trend focuses increasingly on software-driven devices and our current partnership with a tech-innovator like Jio in the IoT space is a step towards establishing MG Motor as a tech leader in the automobile industry. This partnership will ensure our next mid-sized connected SUV further simplifies the driving experience and ensures safety backed by technology.

The upcoming Astor SUV will not be the only MG car in India to get connected car technology. In fact, the brand already offers the Internet of Things (IOT) with all its models, including the 5-seater Hector SUV, which was MG's first offering in the country.

Dubbed as ''i-Smart'', MG's connected suite has over 50 features that work with an embedded e-SIM. These features include remote engine start with cabin pre-cool, online navigation, voice commands, Over the Air updates (OTA), geofencing, live vehicle tracking, car health diagnosis, online music streaming, emergency calling, real-time weather updates, and many more safety & convenience features.

MG Astor

MG is expected to launch the Astor (petrol-powered ZS) around the festive season this year. It will be the MG's most affordable car in the Indian market that will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Skoda Kushaq, and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.
