Mahindra XUV700 Teased Once Again With Drowsiness Detection Safety Feature

In order to strengthen the image of the XUV700 as a tech-laden car, Mahindra & Mahindra has once again teased the upcoming SUV with yet another ADAS feature. The latest teaser video unveils the Driver Drowsiness Detection System, which is a proactive safety feature to prevent mishaps caused by the driver being drowsy.

Hello Driver Drowsiness Detection

This system senses whether the driver is dozing and automatically alerts him/her if found nodding off. However, the homegrown maker hasn't specified the technology used in XUV700's Drowsiness Detection System. But, it should be noted that this isn't the only segment-first feature of Mahindra XUV700. That said, Mahindra has already revealed that the new XUV700 will also be equipped with features like auto booster headlamps (auto levelling headlamps), personalized safety alerts, smart door handles, and the segment's largest panoramic sunroof.

Further, the earlier spy images have also confirmed the presence of several other premium equipment such as Mercedes-Benz-inspired dual-screen setup, electronic parking brake with auto-hold function, 360-degree camera, multiple drive modes, dual-zone climate control, leatherette upholstery, power-adjustable driver's seat with memory function, etc. It is likely to come with 6 and 7-seats configurations.

Mahindra has not revealed engine specs of the upcoming three-row SUV, but rumors are suggesting that it will be offered with two engine options: – a 197PS 2.0-liter turbo-petrol and a 182PS 2.2-liter turbo-diesel. Transmission choices will include both manual and automatic units. It might even get a segment-exclusive all-wheel-drive (AWD) system with select variants.

The automaker is expected to launch the XUV700 by August 2021. Expect it to carry a significant premium over its lineage model- XUV500, which currently retails from Rs 15.56 lakh to Rs 20.07 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Once launched, it will lock horns against the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and the Hyundai Alcazar.
