Audi e-Tron Bookings Open In India Ahead Of July 22 Launch

Bookings for the Audi e-Tron have been commenced for a token amount of Rs 5 lakh. It will be the first EV from the German manufacturer in India, which is slated to be launched on July 22.

Audi is likely to launch the e-tron in a single variant – e-tron 55, that will be available in two body styles: SUV and Sportback (SUV Coupe). The core difference between both the models is the tapering roofline that makes the Sportback look sportier and aggressive. However, both models will come equipped with striking features such as 20-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlamps, LED tail lamps with full-width light bar, orange-colored brake callipers, progressive steering, adaptive air suspension, 10.1-inch Audi MMI touchscreen infotainment, an 8.8-inch touch display for 4-zone automatic climate control, ‘Virtual Cockpit’ digital instrument cluster, power-adjustable steering & front seats, electric tailgate, up to eight airbags, and many more.

As per the reports, the e-tron is expected to be offered in as many as nine color options: Catalunya Red, Floret Silver, Galaxy Blue, Navarra Blue, Mythos Black, Glacier White, Typhoon Grey, Siam Beige, and Plasma Blue (exclusive to the Sportback).

As for the powertrain, Audi will provide the e-tron and e-tron Sportback with a 95kWh battery pack that powers a dual-motor AWD setup driving all four wheels. It delivers 360PS and 561Nm in the standard drive mode, which can be further increased to 408PS/664Nm with the Boost function.

The e-tron 55 has a top speed of 200kmph and delivers a WLTP-certified range of between 359-484km on a single charge. It can be energized from 0-80 percent in 8.5 hours using an 11kW AC home charger. However, it is also compatible with up to 150kW DC fast charging that can juice it up in just 30 minutes.

Since e-tron 55 will be a fully imported unit, expect Audi to price it between Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.20 crore (ex-showroom). On its arrival, it will battle it out with the Mercedes-Benz EQC (Rs 1.04 Cr) and Jaguar I-Pace (Rs 1.05 – 1.12 Cr).
